How to Compare RFP Amendments Without Losing the Source Context

A source-first method for comparing an original RFP with an amendment, checking each finding, and exporting an action-ready review.

Prepare a controlled baseline

Confirm which solicitation version governed immediately before the amendment. Keep the original source file unchanged and record where it came from. If earlier amendments already changed the baseline, incorporate them through your organization’s controlled document process before comparing the next amendment.

Extract readable text

Odvero RFP accepts pasted English plain text or a UTF-8 TXT or Markdown file. It does not read PDF, DOCX, scans, tables, or attachments. Preserve section numbers and put distinct clauses on separate lines where practical.

Run one deterministic comparison

Add the original text and amendment text, then choose Compare documents. The same normalized input produces the same review. Document text remains in the active browser tab and is not uploaded to Odvero.

Interpret the categories conservatively

Changed findings pair a revised amendment clause with a likely baseline clause. Added findings have no sufficiently supported baseline match. Explicitly removed findings require direct deletion language. A clause missing from a partial amendment is not automatically a removal.

Verify every finding at the source

Check section references, dates, quantities, attachments, definitions, and surrounding instructions in the complete authoritative documents. The tool does not determine materiality, legal effect, compliance, or which version ultimately governs.

Export and assign the work

Download Markdown for a readable review or CSV for sorting and assignment. Add owners, due dates, source citations, and completion evidence in the proposal team’s normal control system. Save the export before refreshing or closing the tab because Odvero does not retain the working data.
